UFI Asia-Pacific Conference Brings Industry Leaders to Australia for the First Time
The UFI Asia-Pacific Conference made history by bringing together global exhibition industry leaders in Australia for the first time, held on 13-14 February 2025 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). The event, co-located with the Asia-Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) and the Australian Business Events Association (ABEA) Leaders Forum, set the stage for an extraordinary week of networking, knowledge-sharing, and industry collaboration.
Key Discussions: Sustainability, AI, and Talent Development
The conference featured a diverse lineup of speakers and industry leaders who tackled pressing topics influencing the exhibition sector, including:
- Sustainability: Strategies for greener and more responsible business events.
- Artificial Intelligence (AI): The role of AI in enhancing event efficiency and engagement.
- Talent Development: Addressing workforce challenges and future-proofing the industry.
- Evolving Market Trends: Navigating the post-pandemic landscape and industry shifts.
All sessions will be made available on-demand for UFI members and conference attendees.
Collaborative Meetings and Exclusive Experiences
Beyond the insightful discussions, the UFI Asia-Pacific Chapter and Associations Committee gathered to share updates, with a notable presentation by MFTA (Macau) focusing on education and sustainability.
The UFI Australia debut attracted hundreds of senior professionals from over 20 countries, reinforcing Melbourne’s reputation as a premier destination for business events. Natalie O’Brien AM, Chief Executive of MCEC, emphasised the significance of hosting such a prestigious event in Australia, noting that hundreds of thought leaders worldwide came together to network, exchange ideas, and discuss some of the industry’s biggest challenges and opportunities.
Chris Skeith OBE, Managing Director and CEO of UFI, highlighted the event’s role in shaping the industry’s future. He stated that conversations on sustainability, AI, talent, and other key topics would help define the sector’s future in the region and beyond. He expressed optimism about how the momentum from this event would drive innovation and growth across the exhibition industry.

The momentum doesn’t stop here! In 2026, the UFI Asia-Pacific Conference will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, hosted by the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).
